The Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service was implemented in Qatar in 2012 essentially to allow consumers to retain their existing mobile number when switching to a different service provider. MNP empowers consumers with the ability to more freely choose the best service provider to meet their needs, and is an important part of the liberalization of Qatar’s telecommunications market.
Consumers wishing to change service providers and keep their existing mobile number should visit retail outlets of the service provider and fill out an application to change their service provider. Number porting typically takes one working day once the application has been completed.
