In Cooperation with Qatar Charity, CRA Concludes Charity Campaign for Electronic Devices Collection

In cooperation with Qatar Charity (QC), the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) concluded the charity campaign launched under the title “Digital Inclusion”. The campaign started from October 1 - October 5, 2019 at Mall of Qatar. The campaign aimed at receiving donations of either used or new electronic devices to redistribute them to students, orphans, workers and widows, to improve their technical knowledge and capabilities.

The in-kind donations of electronic devices such as computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets were collected at the booth, also the booth included activities for the children such as coloring and handcrafts.

“CRA has launched its first charity campaign at the aim of contributing to the achievement of one of Qatar National Vision 2030 goals; fostering innovation, creativity and capacity building within young people. In addition to, enhancing the cooperation and community partnership with Qatar Charity, especially in matters related to CRA’s mandate; regulating Qatar’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector,” said Shk. Noor Al-Thani, International Relations Specialist, CRA.

“We are proud of our partnership with CRA and the Mall of Qatar and our cooperation in the “Digital Inclusion” campaign, which falls within our keenness to establish strategic partnership with various institutions and entities in the country to serve the community through charity work. It also came due to our keenness to involve the Qatari society in volunteer work to support humanitarian programs and projects of Qatar Charity,” said Mr. Jassim Al Emadi, director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity.

The CRA has launched this campaign as a participation in the Digital Inclusion Week for the Arab Region that is organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The Digital Inclusion Week aims at highlighting and raising awareness about mechanisms to integrate marginalized sectors of Arab societies using ICTs, especially persons with disabilities, women, youth, children, rural and remote populations, as well as migrants.
